Maroon Cream Soft Dhakai Jamdani Saree with Ikkat Border
₹1,475Soft cottonThree things worth knowing. Then you can spot a real one yourself.

The weaver holds a separate thread and puts in each buti by hand. There is no drawing in front of him. Turn the pallu over · the loose threads on the back are how you know it is a real jamdani.

Here the colour goes into the thread before any weaving starts. The yarn is tied, dyed, then lined up on the loom. If the lining up is a little off, the pattern does not meet.

This work began with using up old cloth. One layer over another, held with a running stitch. You can see the stitching, and that is on purpose · every patch is set by hand.
Handwoven cloth is never as even as machine cloth. The small differences are the weaver’s hand, not a fault.
Fourteen short videos, one for every weave we sell.
Pujo first, then the weddings. From a ₹1,175 muslin jamdani to a ₹3,675 bomkai. Red, and the colours that go well with red.
See the Pujo sarees

Forty-eight hand-painted sarees. No two are the same, and you get the exact one you see.

You will see brush marks, and lines that are not quite even. That is what handwork looks like.

Since 1920 · over a hundred years
In 1920 this shop was called “Radha Kishan Sagarmal”. A small store in the middle of the Howrah market. The cloth was good and the prices were low, and word got around.
Then the queues started. People would stand outside two and three hours before the shutters went up. That small shop is Shree Howrah Stores today · three floors, and lakhs of families.
You came as a child holding your father’s hand, and we gave you mishti. You came back with your first salary to buy him a gift. Three generations of you have kept us here.
From our family to yours.
Our promises
One rule for a hundred years. Keep the cloth good, keep the price low, take it back if something is wrong.
Same cloth, same quality, lower price. That is money saved for the family.
Not even in a sale. If a piece has a flaw we tell you before you buy it.
If you do not like it, bring it back. We refund in cash.
Kashmir to Chennai, Kutch to Bengal. Made by artisans we pick ourselves. What you see on this website is mostly Bengal · tant, khadi and jamdani.
Where we are
Five minutes from Howrah station, on the main road. Come once and feel the cloth yourself.
Tell us a colour, an occasion or your budget. We will send you photos of what we have.
Message us on WhatsAppWe do wholesale too. Sets of six, minimum order six, GST extra.
